Oprah’s Master Class Presents Jane Fonda
Jane Fonda was famous from the day she was born. Despite
what appeared to be a storybook upbringing, hers was a complicated childhood,
scarred by her mother’s suicide and emotionally distant father. She found her focus in an acting class alongside Marilyn Monroe,
reconsidered body image while swimming with Greta Garbo and learned to overcome
fear with the help of Katharine Hepburn. As her career took off, Jane also discovered there was more to life
and wanted to use her fame to make a change. She was determined to see the
conflict in Vietnam firsthand, from both sides. The trip to Hanoi taught her
some of the most impactful lessons of her life. Now—in what Jane calls the “third act” of her life—she
shares how she learned to let her vulnerabilities show, how she learned to
forgive herself and how she feels now that she is finally whole. Her most
valuable lesson is clear, though: It is never too late.
Oprah’s Master Class Presents Goldie
From the age of 11, Goldie Hawn knew her goal in life. It
wasn’t to be a dancer or an entertainer or even an actress. She simply wanted
to be happy. Even from such an early age, this guiding principle has been at
the core of her most valuable life lessons. Growing up in Takoma Park,
Maryland, where being yourself became more important than being perfect, Goldie
was on a path toward a simple life: marry, raise kids, run a dance studio. But
her life took a dramatically different turn. Success came early, but the lessons of her childhood
were never far from her mind. Goldie’s father told her to always keep her feet
on the ground, and even an Oscar® and a successful feature-film career did not
Oprah’s Master Class Presents Morgan Freeman
Morgan Freeman, one of America’s most beloved actors,
reveals the lessons he learned throughout his prolonged rise to success and
discusses the hand of providence that brought him there. Morgan’s
early enthusiasm for performance helped him nurture his natural gifts, but a
career in movies was sidetracked by his time spent in the United States Air
Force. Realizing that the heightened reality of the movies from his childhood
did not translate to the real world, he left the military to become an actor. Despite his
struggles with poverty, hunger and a lack of any perceived progress, Morgan
declared who he was: an actor. Looking back on these challenges, Morgan shares
his revelation that—with providence as your guide and with a determination to
just keep moving—your life will unfold as it should.
Oprah’s Master Class Presents Ted Turner
Ted Turner is one of this country’s most successful entrepreneurs, with a list of accomplishments that are unrivaled in modern times. From an early age, Ted learned the value of honor, integrity and hard work, which became the cornerstone of his identity.
Oprah’s Master Class Presents Laird Hamilton
Laird Hamilton is a surfing revolutionary who has learned incomparable life lessons in his quest to ride the biggest waves in the world. For Laird, surfing is a mystical experience. He attacks everything in life with a similar wonder, awe and enthusiasm. He shares lessons about doing what you love, regardless of what other people think, believing in the power of imagination and taking risks for the things that you care about. That’s why he became an environmental activist, fighting to protect the oceans. And it’s also why, at the age of 47, he’s still catching the big waves.
Oprah’s Master Class Presents Reba McEntire
Before Reba McEntire was declared the queen of country, she was a small-town girl in Oklahoma. The hard work ethic Reba gained while working on her family’s ranch stayed with her, from her early days singing at rodeos to her superstar success. Along her journey, she learned how to stand up for herself and believe in her own power and voice, which can be difficult in an industry filled with strong men trying to tell her what to do. Reba rose above her challenges—including losing members of her band in a tragic plane crash—and went on to make country music history.
Oprah’s Master Class Presents Jon Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi is a rock legend, having sold more than 125 million records in his
band’s career of 29 years and counting. Jon takes us inside their meteoric rise
to fame and reveals what he learned about himself and the band when that fame
threatened to tear the band apart.
Oprah’s Master Class Presents Grant Hill
